Janet Lynch

Janet Lynch, 86, left us to be with the Lord on Saturday April 4, 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Caroline and James Murray on January 24, 1940. She was the youngest of three daughters.

Married in 1961, she and her husband Richard (Dick) had three children: Jeffrey (JR), Suzan, and Diana. She was a beautiful woman who loved and cared for her family. While she spent most of her life raising her family, Janet also spent 15 years as a secretary for the Bernards Township Clerk. Fashion was a keen interest of Janet’s, she was always dressed impeccably and effortlessly elegant. She also had a wonderful singing voice, gaining her a scholarship offer to Julliard. However, Janet was shy and only liked to sing for her family and therefore did not accept the scholarship.

Janet & Dick were fortunate to travel frequently through Dick’s self-owned company. Together they enjoyed Greece, Japan, and many other international and domestic locations. She was also a travel companion to her daughters and granddaughters, and sister-in-law Jane Lynch. They had many laughs and created lasting memories together.

To greet Janet in heaven are; her husband, Richard; sister, Mary DeBock; nephew, Mark DeBock; her parents, Caroline & James Murray; and son-in-law, Edward Hickey.

Her family will carry on her memory. She is survived by all three of her children, sister Eileen Cavanaugh and husband Herb, brother-in-law Joseph and wife Jane, daughter-in-law Denise, son-in-law Tim, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her legacy will continue through her seven grandchildren, Caroline, Tim, and James Gillis; Kate (Hickey) Brophy and husband Connor, Maggie Hickey; Erin and Jeffrey Lynch; and great granddaughter, Brynn Brophy.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Saints Phillip & James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 am, at the church. The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha are coordinating arrangements.
