Gwendolyn P. Charles
Gwendolyn P. Charles, 88, of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on June 16, 2026, in Bethlehem, surrounded by her loving sons.
Born February 18, 1938, in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. Pierson Sr. and Pauline P. Kopaciewicz Pierson.
Gwendolyn was the wife of the late Daniel T. Charles Sr. She graduated from Phillipsburg high School, Class of 1956, and was employed as a clerk in the student office for 10 years. She also worked at the Main Street Five and Dime and the Hudson Street Market. She enjoyed walking with her sons to the pool at Walters Park, vacationing in Wildwood, NJ, bicycling and roller skating. She was proud to have grown up on Howard and Fayette Street. Gwendolyn was an avid member of Grace Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, was a nursery class teacher, and was the Lutheran Church Woman treasurer for 22 years.
Survivors are her sons; Jeffrey T. Charles and wife Diane, of Wind Gap, PA, Daniel T. Charles Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Michael T. Charles and wife Kim, of Nazareth, PA. Also surviving are a brother, Carl Pierson Jr., and wife Barbara, of West Easton, and sister, Phyllis Montilone and husband Ralph, of Easton, PA. Grandchildren are Matthew Charles, Allison Charles Sheehan, Riley Charles Surovy, and Jenny Charles. Nieces are Janel Pierson Carmel, Tara Pierson White, and Kelli Charles Balas, as well as a nephew, Duane Michael Pierson, great-nieces; Alexis White, Zoe Pierson, and Maya Pierson, and great-nephew, Braden White. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Carol Ann Beatty.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 am at the Grace Lutheran Church, 300 Roseberry Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. The interment will be at the Bloomsbury Cemetery. The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha are coordinating arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church
