Stephen Barry Dornich

Stephen Barry Dornich, 79, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born May 14, 1946, in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Ethel Shramko Dornich. He was also predeceased by his wife, the late Barbara Barbaro Dornich, who passed in 2000.

Barry was a teacher and superintendent with the Washington Township School District in Washington Township, NJ and was a New York Yankee and Wind Creek fan. He was a longtime member of Harker’s Hollow Golf Club in Harmony Township, NJ where he was a 8-time club champion. Barry began as a caddy at age 9 and would eventually work as a starter at the course. He would record 8 holes-in-one during his golfing career.

Survivors include his loving wife, Charma Foose Dornich, and children; Dawn Shafer and husband Ken, Denise Probasco and husband Ed, and Dennis Dornich and wife Nancy. Additionally, he is survived by step-daughters; Debra Bush and husband George, Wendy Smith, Valarie Hriczak and Frank, and Tammy Hriczak and Drew. His grandchildren are Natalie and husband John, Shay, Dennis Jr., and Nora. Step-grandchildren are Rhiannon, Olivia, Isabel, Anthony, Francesca, and Krystal and husband Tyson. Great grandchildren are Amelia, Tanner, Talia, Nadia, and Asher, and step great-grandchildren, Zaidyn and Giada. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers; J. Robert Dornish and Richard Dornich.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 10 – 12:00 noon at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon at the funeral home followed by interment at the Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, NJ.
