Roger A. LeMar, Sr.

Roger LeMar

Roger A. LeMar, Sr., 82, of Phillipsburg, NJ, (formerly of Nazareth, PA), passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at The Gardens at Easton, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s dementia.  Born in New York City, Roger was the son of the late Ann (Lauto) Crivellaro and Henry LeMar.  He lived most of his life in Pohatcong Township, NJ and was a dedicated father, grandfather and Vietnam veteran.

Roger attended Pratt Institute in New York City for architecture and, at one point, worked as an apprentice for a company owned by I.M. Pei. When he moved out of the city to Pennsylvania, he met the love of his life, Barbara Evansky in 1964.  They were married in 1966, and he was drafted for Vietnam that same year.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Kansas, honorably discharged in 1969, attaining the rank of sergeant.  He settled in Pohatcong Township, NJ, where he and Barbara raised their 4 children.  He worked as a former relocation officer with the Easton Redevelopment Authority and then as a salesman selling industrial supplies.  He was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ and active in his local government, serving as the committee chair for Pohatcong’s Zoning Board for many years.  He loved making people laugh, and was always ready with a joke, even up until his final days.  More than anything else, Roger loved being surrounded by his family, especially when it involved a home-made meal.

In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara, Roger is survived by four children: Roger, Jr., Ann Farrell (husband, George), Dave (wife, Missy) and Greg (wife, Michelle), and eight grandchildren; Chloe, Christian (Sarah), Evan, David, Andrew, Meghan, Sarah and Emma; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth, and half-brother, Gary Crivellaro.  He is also survived by close family friends, Mike Pugliese and Gerry Smith, who were like sons to him, as well as his devoted canine companion, Moose.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 830 5th Ave., Alpha, NJ, with burial in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Ave., Alpha, NJ.
