Frances Ivankevich

Frances J. (Pat) Ivankevich, 96, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away into eternal rest on July 28, 2024 at St. Luke’s, Anderson Campus.

Born November 20, 1927, in New Brighton, PA, Pat was the daughter of the late Thomas Latherow and Nellie Soladean Latherow. She was also predeceased by the love of her life, Albert S. Ivankevich, her husband of 47 years.

A retired Registered Nurse at the medical office of Dr. M. S. Durrani in Lopatcong Township, Pat was known as “the nurse” for many Phillipsburg residents. She worked at various medical offices on the Roseberry St corridor as well as Warren Hospital and was a graduate of St. Luke’s Nursing School in Fountain Hill. Pat was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg for many years.

Pat is survived by her children, Paul Ivankevich (Wendy), Debbie Helfrich (Tom), and Gary Ivankevich (Joanne); grandchildren David Ivankevich (Noelle), Eric Ivankevich (Caitlin), Thomas Helfrich (Ali), and Scott Helfrich (Catherine); and great-grandchildren Graham, Piper and Indio. In addition to her husband and parents, Pat was also predeceased by sisters, Mary Jane McKnight and Lillian Latherow, and brother, Charles Latherow.

Pat was a class act, known for her signature style of skirts and cardigans. From baking, bowling, and line dancing to attending red hat society events, Pat brought a fun and lively spirit to anything she did. She enjoyed volunteering, especially at her church, where she proudly served as a “chocolatier” for yearly holiday fundraisers. However, what Pat truly loved most, was spending time with her ever-growing family. Pat’s love, warmth, and generosity will be sorely missed, and all who knew her will remember her as “still kicking, just not quite as high.”

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home. The interment will be at St. Philip & St. James Cemetery in Greenwich Township, NJ.
