Lillian Kardos

Lillian Kardos passed away peacefully at the Genesis Lopatcong Care Center, Phillipsburg, NJ on July 22, 2025 at the age of 101. The family is grateful to the staff for the compassionate care for over seven years.

She was born on August 4, 1923 in Alpha NJ to the parents of Steven and Elizabeth Marczi Kardos. Lillian attended Phillipsburg High School and Churchman Business College. Was employed at the Picatinny Arsenal and also the U.S. Treasury Dept. in Washington D.C. She also did Secretarial/Accounting work in Easton, PA at the Margaret Moore Dress Shop.

Lillian loved to sing and sang in the Musical Arts led by Fred Waring. Was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Alpha NJ, where she taught Sunday School and Summer School, teaching Hungarian, and also sang in the church choir. Sang in the choir at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. She volunteered at the USO in Washington, D.C.

Survived by sisters Irene Anderson of Coopersburg, PA and Matilda Cogan, Phillipsburg, NJ, nieces Dara Patton, Darcy Hahn, nephews James Kardos, Bret Kardos, and Arthur Kardos, David, Dale and Douglas Cogan and grandnieces and grandnephews, and great grandniece. Predeceased by brothers Julius, Eugene, Arthur and Louis Kardos and her parents Steven and Elizabeth.

A viewing will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, July 25, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11 A.M., at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue, Alpha, N.J. She will be interred in the United Presbyterian Cemetery in Alpha.
