Lorraine H. Whitmore

Lorraine H. Whitmore, 81, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA. She was born on July 23, 1945 in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucy Hahn Hoffman.

Lorraine started her working career at Arthur Alexander Law Firm in Washington, NJ, then she worked for Art Merrille Accounting also in Washington, NJ, and was employed by the Franklin Twp. Elementary School in the cafeteria.

She graduated from Washington High School Class of 1963.

Lorraine was a 50-year member of the Broadway Methodist Church, was a member of the Warren County Grange #110, and was also a member of the ladies Auxiliary of Broadway Rescue Squad. She and her husband John, Sr. celebrated 65 years of marriage on October 23, 1963. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and going out to dinner. Her most treasured time was spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband, John C. Whitmore, Sr., her loving children; John C. Whitmore, Jr., Eric F. Whitmore and his wife Lisa, and Jill C. Lutzi and her fiancé Mark Gara. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Lynch, along with her grandchildren, Corey, Brandy, Holly, Alia and Matthew, and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ethan, Raelyh, Ryleigh, Colton, Kaylee and Miles.

A Calling hour will be held for family and friends from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Service at 12 Noon also in the funeral home. Interment will then take place at The Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp., PA.
