Filomena “Phyllis” Hughes, 92, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem, PA.

Born January 31, 1932, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Frinzi Hughes and William Hughes. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Stanley Hughes, who passed in 2018.

Phyllis was employed at Phillipsburg/V-Care Pharmacy in Phillipsburg, and was working to present. She had previously been employed at Ingersoll Rand and Weldon Oil, both in Phillipsburg. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hughes Lutz, of Phillipsburg, and sister and brother, Elaine Opdyke, of Phillipsburg, and William Hughes, of Pennsylvania, as well as nephew, Michael Thompson, of Easton, and grand dog, Li-Ming, and “the cats.” In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Patricia Lee Hughes, son-in-law Mark Lutz, and sisters, Patricia Thompson and Nancy Johnson.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 7-9 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, as well as an additional calling hour on Thursday from 10 – 11 am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 500 Hillcrest Blvd, Phillipsburg, NJ with a Funeral Service beginning at the church at 11:00 am. The interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, also in Phillipsburg.
