Nancy Ann Martin
Nancy Ann Martin, neé Beck, 84, of Beach Haven Crest, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024. Born on February 21, 1940, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Nancy lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a lasting legacy of love, humor, and adventure.
Nancy was the daughter of John and Hilda Beck, originally of Allentown, PA. She attended Allentown Central Catholic High School, where she received a strong foundation in both academics and faith. After high school, she worked as a secretary for Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. Then, in a love story that spanned over six decades, Nancy married John Amelio Martin. Their marriage of 63 years was a testament to enduring commitment and partnership. Together, they raised five wonderful children: Jill, Kim, John, Kerry, and Christian. Nancy was a devoted mother, always supportive of her children’s endeavors and deeply involved in their lives.
A woman of many passions, Nancy had a lifelong love for fishing, a hobby she embraced from childhood and passed on to her children and grandchildren. Known as a fishing legend on Long Beach Island, NJ she and John shared many memorable fishing adventures, including an unforgettable trip where Nancy hooked and landed a 200-pound swordfish. Their shared love for the ocean and beach living started family traditions that have been carried on through generations.
Nancy’s vibrant personality also made her a beloved figure in the Florida Keys, where she and John spent many extended vacations. She loved to play games, listen to live music at local restaurants, and entertain family and friends with her excellent cooking and warm hospitality. Nancy’s home was always open to visitors, and even the bug man found himself staying for lunch.
In the 1980s, Nancy and her family spent summers living on a boat, again fostering a deep connection with the ocean and beach activities. These experiences left an indelible mark on her children and grandchildren, instilling in them a love for the sea.
An avid reader and daily crossword puzzler, Nancy never missed a birthday, holiday, or special event, always sending beautifully handwritten letters and cards to her loved ones. Nancy’s life was a testament to her love for her family, her adventurous spirit, and her unwavering support for those she cared about. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, John Amelio Martin, their five children, Jill Frank (Jim) of Harvey Cedars, NJ and their son Hans; Kim Dagen (Michael) of Merritt Island, FL and their children Aaron (Megan) and Rachel; Dr. John Martin of Daytona Beach Shores, FL and his son, Liam; Kerry Pulzone (Thom) of St. Augustine, FL and Kerry’s children Kenzie Brittain (Patrick), Jakob Tustin, and Jan Tustin; Dr. Christian Martin (Joanmarie) of Brightwaters, NY and their children Christian Jr., Luke, and Jack; and her brother Jack Beck (Dianne) of Branson, MO and their children Lisa and Steve.
