Shirley Mae Sperling

Shirley Mae Sperling, 81, of Alpha, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026 at St. Luke’s Warren Campus. She was born on May 11, 1945 in Hackensack, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Odell and Nannie Love Oliver.

She worked for Berol-Pin Company and Kimberly Clark as an administrative Assistant.

Shirley was predeceased by six brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her loving children; Grover Hansford, Jr., and his wife Dixie of Alpha, NJ, Anthony Hansford of Burlington, N.C., Jesse Batten, Jr., of Charlotte, N.C., Reginald Sperling and his wife Tammy of Lexington, N.C., Sharon Sperling-Slater and her husband Steven of Plainfield, NJ, and Corey Sperling of Lexington, N.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Sheana Foster and her husband Jason, Jessica Alston and her husband Archie, Cordarius Leverette, Reggie Sperling, Jr., Naomi Batten, Sean Hansford, Andre Hansford, Allyah Sperling, Corey Sperling, Jr., Camden Sperling, along with her great-grandchildren, Sonia Foster, Siana Foster, Josiah Batten, Donovan Hawes, Devon Hawes, Jordan Sperling, Grayson Sperling, Noah Sperling.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 10AM to 11 AM at The Finegan Funeral Home, 924 2nd Ave., Alpha, NJ, followed by a Celebration of Shirley’s Life at 11AM with the Rev. Cedric McKoy presiding. Interment will then take place in the United Presbyterian Cemetery, Alpha, NJ.
