Irene, ‘Tootsie” Giamoni

Irene, ‘Tootsie” Giamoni, 94, passed away at Abington Manor, Easton, PA on Sunday, October 25, 2026.  Exactly one week after her husband passed away.

Irene was born in Alpha, NJ and was the daughter of Michael and Mary Hanisak.  She was No. 13 out of 15 children.  William “Smokey” Hanisak is her sole sibling survivor of whom she thought the world of.

Irene was married to the late Salvatore “Tootie” Giamoni for 77 years. He was the love of her life.  Sal recently passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026.  She could not live on this earth without him and now they will be together for eternity.

She was a homemaker all her life but during the early years she worked at the “pocketbook” factory.  It was the beginning of her love for purses.  She was always buying a new purse she thought she needed.

Irene was an impeccable housekeeper.  Always cleaning and putting up new drapes or curtains.  Whether there were 7 people living in the house or just 2, she did laundry every day!  She was a great cook.  Her family enjoyed her mother’s Slovak recipes, but she also perfected all the Italian dishes as well for her desire to always please our dad.

She loved travelling with Sal.  They had so much fun.  If there was music playing, they were dancing.  Their favorite dances were polkas and jitterbugging.  Irene was extremely lucky and therefore one of her favorite outings was to the casino.  Unfortunately, Sal was not as lucky but always played the good sport.

Of course, her pride and joy were her surviving children: Thomas, Deborah Chando (George), Audrey Gunderman (Kevin), Janice Jennings (Steve), Jeffrey (Penny); her grandchildren: Erica, Mark, Kevin, Ryan, Jacqueline, Justin and Isabella; and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved as well.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 29th, 2026, from 9 – 11 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home, beginning at 11 am. The Entombment will be at the Holy Apostles Mausoleum in Greenwich Township, NJ.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to St. Janes’s Frances De Chantal Church in Palmer Twp., PA, St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg, and the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad.
