George Heyer

George Heyer, 77, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 17. 2024 at St. Luke’s Warren Campus.

Born on May 24, 1947 in Nazareth, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert and Shirley Sozanski Heyer.

George was a farmer at heart for most of his life, working for Agway and Gromark, FS. He was a member of the Belvidere Jaycees and was a leader of the New Jersey Jaycees. George was a scout leader for many years. He attended Belvidere High School.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his step-father, Steven Sozanski, along with his siblings, Mary Heyer and Russell Heyer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, June Minchin Heyer, his children; Emmy Lu Minchin-Slack of Phillipsburg, NJ, Elizabeth Mantega and her husband Davide, of France, and Robert Heyer and his wife Krista of Phillipsburg, NJ, along with his sister, Diane Bigelow of Harmony Township, NJ, and his beloved grandchildren, Sebastian Stanton and Marco Mantega.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11A.M. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery, Harmony Township, NJ.
