Howard R. Steckel

Howard R. Steckel, 90, of Harmony Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Howard was the son of the late Howard and Ruth Steckel.

A graduate of Belvidere High School, Howard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before continuing his career as a New Jersey State Trooper, retiring after a distinguished career.

Following his retirement, Howard pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and opened his own business, Moto Venture Marine.

Howard had a lifelong love of boating and outdoor sports.

He especially enjoyed spending time on the river, where he developed many cherished friendships over the years. He also served on the ski patrol in the Pocono Mountains and enjoyed snowmobiling.

Through these activities, Howard found happiness, adventure, and many memorable moments with family and friends.

A man of few words but a great teacher to many, Howard shared his wisdom through his actions, his kindness, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and love for his family will always be remembered.

Above all, Howard treasured his family and the time they spent together.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda (Laros) Steckel; his three stepsons, Jack Laros (Allison Best), Jeff Laros (Kimberly Flynn), and Patrick Laros (Trisha Laros); and his two grandsons, Mark Laros (Jen) and Zachary Laros (Megan).

Howard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
