Howard William Schneider, Jr.,

Howard William Schneider, Jr., 85, of High Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026 surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born on June 4, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Howard and Marie Schneider.

After graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps., for four years. He was proud to be a graduate of Poly but he was always proud to have been a faithful Marine. He was then employed by AT&T and retired after 35 years in the communications field. He married Linda Matousek Schneider, in 1961 and together they shared 65 years of marriage. They had known each other since they were 12 and 14 years old. Howard was known for his height of 6’ 4” but also his big personality, his booming voice and memorable laugh. He was loved and respected because of his work with youth in Baltimore, his mission trips, and his legendary Bible studies over 25 years.

Howard is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Laurie Nelson and her husband, Randall. There are also nine grandchildren; Amanda Duffy and Michael, Alexandra Gallagher and Caleb, Ashley Tillinghast and Joshua, Meghan Schneider and Elaina, Amber Victoria and Giovanni, Andi DeJesus and Anthony, Gunnar Schneider, Edwing Schneider, Austin Nelson, and seven great-grandchildren; Cambria Duffy, Colbie Tillinghast, Anthony DeJesus, Jr., Chloe Gallagher, Micah DeJesus, Miles Tillinghast, and Dove DeJesus.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carol Schneider, and his only son, Lance Howard Schneider.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 10AM to 11 AM at the Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln St., Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11AM. Interment will follow at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp., PA.
