Jean S. Racek
Jean S. Racek, 79, of Phillipsburg, NJ, formerly of Piscataway, NJ, passed away on January 21, 2026 at St. Luke’s Fountain Hill, Bethlehem, PA.
She was born on August 15, 1946 in Plainfield, NJ, a daughter of the late John and Jenny Jurosz Radlof. Jean was an elementary school teacher with the Plainfield School District for many years and loved being able to grow young minds. Jean was also a self taught master seamstress who made many of her daughters clothes during their childhoods, dance costumes for them and their classmates, and later became an avid quilter, enjoyed doing cross stitch and crocheting which allowed her to make many baby blankets for her daughters friends. She fostered many kittens during her life. She focused on bottle babies and was dedicated to helping the tiniest of the tiny live to find their “furrever” homes. She also loved to travel with some of her favorite destinations being Ireland, river cruises in Europe, especially Hawaii.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and David Radlof.
Jean is survived by her beloved daughters, Christina Racek, and Catherine Racek-Peters and her husband, Steve Peters.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 6 PM to 7 PM with a service at 7PM at the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ.
