Marilyn Ann Guidi

Marilyn Ann Guidi, 76, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on September 18, 2025, at Country Meadows in Forks Township, PA.

Born October 13, 1948, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. Guidi and Regina E. Tiberi Guidi.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Catherine Guidi-Scherm and her husband Jeffrey; her grandchildren Maxwell and Caroline Scherm; her long-time friend Joyce Dick; her siblings Robert Guidi and his wife Patricia, Sylvia Ruby and her husband Dennis, Thomas Guidi and his husband Kevin Orzechowski; niece and nephew Mary Beth Guidi and James Guidi.

Marilyn received her RN from the Jefferson School of Nursing. She then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trenton State College and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Seton Hall University.

Marilyn spent over 30 years of her nursing career with the Lehigh Valley Health Network at their Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest location. During her tenure at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Marilyn served as a mentor and coach for many directors and administrators, who describe her as “wicked smart”, hardworking, extremely dedicated, fair and consistent.  As Director of the Shock Trauma Unit, Marilyn developed and implemented shared governance to the organization.  As Director of Staffing and the Float Pool, she grew the Float Pool to 345 nurses, which was an unheard-of number for any float pool throughout the country at the time.

Marilyn loved hosting family gatherings.  She especially enjoyed playing croquet and card games with her grandchildren and other family members.   She was an avid traveler, which included several trips to Maine and Vermont as well as trips to various national parks throughout the country and taking her grandchildren to the New Jersey shore.  She enjoyed photography, especially capturing beautiful pictures of nature during her travels.  Marilyn also loved planting and tending to her flower gardens.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 at the funeral home. The entombment of her ashes will be held privately.

Guidi Endowment Fund at Lehigh Valley Health Network which will support an annual Friends of Nursing Transformational Leadership Award.
