Harold Schlecht

Harold Schlecht, 92, of Saylorsburg, PA, formerly of Hamilton Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at Abington Manor. He was born on February 8, 1933 in Lehighton, PA, a son of the late Christian and Catherine Ricketts Schlecht.

Harold was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. He was employed with the Defense Logistics Agency in the Quality Control Division. He worked with computers that sent rockets to the moon.

He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, bowling and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, his step-sons, Richard and Manuel Gromes, and also by several brothers and sisters.

Harold is survived by his step-son, William Gromes and his wife, Amy Jo, of Saylorsburg, PA, along with 8 grandchildren.

Entombment will take place on Monday August 25, 2025 at The Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton Twp., NJ 08619 at 12 Noon.

The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg and Alpha are coordinating his arrangements.
