Joan A. Schaefer

Joan A. Schaefer, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on August 14, 2025, at Complete Care at Brakeley Park, in Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born May 3, 1932, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard Bowers and Olive Houck Bowers. She was also predeceased by her husband, the late Stephen Schaefer.

Joan served proudly in the United States Marine Corps after which she was employed as an operator with Bell Telephone in Easton, PA. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg.

Survivors are her sister, Helen Wesse, and nieces; Sharon Policelli and Linda Amato and her husband Michael. Additionally, she is survived by 2 great nephews and 4 great-great nieces. Joan was also predeceased by a brother, the late John Bowers.

A private funeral service and interment are being coordinated by the Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha.
