Robert P. Zaro
Robert P. Zaro, 74, of Lopatcong Twp., NJ, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2025.
Born on December 28, 1950 in Easton, PA, Bob was the beloved son of the late Irma Gerencer Zaro. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a combat veteran during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked for many years as a manager at Flynn’s Catering and later as a bridge monitor with the DRJTBC.
A lifelong resident of the Phillipsburg area, Bob was widely recognized for his exceptional wrestling career at Phillipsburg High School. Zaro is a two-time New Jersey state wrestling champion in 1968 and 1969 and was also inducted in the Phillipsburg High School Hall of Fame in 2023. Above all, Bob was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Donna, shared 52 years of marriage and a relationship that began when they met as 11-year-olds. He was a loyal friend, a proud father, and a deeply devoted grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna Warner Zaro; his children, Shane Zaro and his wife Jessica of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Jennica Zaro Krankel and her husband Sean of Los Angeles, CA; and his three grandchildren, Jordyn, and Ethan Zaro, and Cleo Zaro Krankel. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Zaro and his wife Marion of Stewartsville, NJ, Bette Seebeck of Hellertown, PA, and Tom Zaro and his wife Jodi of Forks Township, PA.
A Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ.
