Ronald A. Vanderbilt
Ronald A. Vanderbilt, 83, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on May 22, 2025, at his residence.
Born on September 27, 1941, in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late John A. and Jane Crouse Vanderbilt. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn Gill Vanderbilt, who passed away in 2021.
Ron was a lifelong employee of the Riegel Paper Company, working as a paper machine runner at the Warren Glen facility.
He loved cars—especially his pride and joys, his ’55 and ’57 Chevys. He could be found at all the local car shows, including Joe’s Steak Shop every Tuesday in the summer.
Besides his love of cars, Ron just loved to talk. He could talk to anyone about anything. His favorite places to hang out were the Tic Toc Diner or grabbing coffee with friends at QuickChek in Alpha.
He loved drinking his coffee on his patio swing during the day. The simple things in life made him happiest.
He is survived by his children: Veronica Ciambrone and husband Nick, John W. Vanderbilt and wife MaryBeth, Debra Scheier and her partner Barry Slack, Thomas Scheier and wife Ruth, and David Scheier. His grandchildren include Matthew and Michael Drake, Breanne and Emma Vanderbilt, Kristin Staboleski, and Josh and Matthew Scheier. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and his good friend and QuickChek buddy, Al Frable, aka “Frable.”
Private graveside services are being coordinated by the Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha.
