Daniel Gabriel Mecca

Daniel Gabriel Mecca

The Mecca Family regretfully announces the passing of Daniel Gabriel Mecca, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Known to many as Dan, Danny, Pop or Papa. He spent nearly half his life a resident of Phillipsburg and for his family that knew the young Danny, that was a major accomplishment. He found a way to channel his Gypsy heart through countless cruises and vacations to his happy places in his beloved Caribbean. A proud Italian through and through, Dan wore his heritage with love—and his signature special occasion pinky ring—with flair.

Danny was a proud truck driver and followed his father’s footsteps. He was notably employed by H.R.S. Transport at different times throughout his life and cherished the Sodano family business which brought him to his wife.

Danny was the kind of man you wanted in your corner. He offered strength when it was needed most, a warm hug when your heart was heavy or full and a smile that lit up a room—punctuated by a wink of one of his unforgettable baby blue eyes. He was a provider and a father who made time when asked. His greatest gift to us was his time, something we now understand to be truly priceless.

Danny is deeply missed by his loving sisters, Margaret Ann and Betty, and their families, Pascucci and Del Mauro. He was predeceased by his older brother Anthony.

He is survived by his children: Little Danny, Paula Jo, and Denise, and by his devoted wife, Ann Marie (“Baby”), along with their three childrenAnna, Chris, and Marc. His sons- and daughter-in-lawJosh, Gustav and Kristi, also mourn his loss, along with his cherished grandchildren: Madison, Dylan, Amber, Robyn, Emilee, Katie, Landon, Max, Logan, Quinn, Dino, Enzo, and Fortunato.

This announcement is made for a man who deserves nothing less than the honor and recognition fit for a king. Though it is written without him here to read it, we know he knows how deeply he is lovedPop, your seat will always remain at the head of our table.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on May, 8, 2025 from 6 Pm to 8 PM at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10AM in the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Dan may be made to the MDS Foundation at www.mds-foundation.org/donate/
