Salvatore A. “Tooty” Marina
Salvatore Marina, age 97, of Phillipsburg NJ, passed away on Thursday April 10, 2025 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. Salvatore was born on December 25, 1927 in Phillipsburg to his late loving parents, Antonio and Cologera Marina. Salvatore was a loving and giving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He and his wife, the former Anne Amato, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last April 22nd. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1946. He worked for the Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and New England Railroad in Bethlehem for 31 years, retiring in 1990.
He proudly and honorably served his country. He was an Army Veteran Corporal of the Korean War serving in the 17th Infantry Regiment and 7th Infantry Division. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, 3 Bronze Stars, Korean Service Medal, Chinese Intervention Medal, and the Far East Ribbon.
Salvatore loved being with his family. He enjoyed sports, especially the Giants and the New York Yankees. He looked forward to going to the Annual Phillipsburg/Easton rivalry football games on Thanksgiving Day. He loved walking early in the morning, five miles a day, and then enjoyed coming home to watch Fox News on TV. He enjoyed gardening, especially his tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers which he was proud to share with his family.
He was a member of St. Phillip and St. James Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, Bernadine- May Post No. 457 American Legion, and the West Easton Fire Company.
He was survived by a son Anthony and his wife Bonnie Marina of Palmer Township, a daughter Carol “Beeb” Marina of Palmer Township, grandchildren, Lauren (Jamie) Marina of Slatington, Carla Jo (Jon) Frey of Bangor, and Chad Miller of Bangor. Great Grandchildren, Casey (CJ), Emile, Kaleea, Francis, Tyler, Leala, and Liam. Great-Great Grandchildren, Nova, Leilani, Stephen, and Kiyan. Sister in laws, Louise Marina of Stewartsville and Josephine Frankenfield of Phillipsburg.
Continued Survivors, Nephews, Rev. Joseph Marina, Anthony Marina, Mark Marina, Allen Marina, John Marina, Louie Badini Nieces, Samantha Marina, Denise Bartha (Tom), Lori and Linda. Salvatore was also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great great nephews in his big loving family.
In addition to his loving parents, Salvatore was predeceased by his brothers Charles Marina, Joseph Marina, and Samuel Marina; his sisters, Frances Rumore and Millie Badini, Brothers in law, Richard Frankenfield, and Joseph Amato, Sister in laws, Emilia Marina and Eileen Marina, Nephews Richard and David, Nieces Joanne and Ronnie.
Services are private and being coordinated by the Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha. Interment with Military Honors.
