Kathleen Kingfield
Kathleen Kingfield, wife of retired New Jersey Superior Court Judge, John Kingfield, passed away on March 24, 2025 due to brain trauma sustained in a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident on March 19, 2025. She was the daughter of Paul and Elsie Dougherty, born on February 14, 1939 in Easton, Pennsylvania. She was raised in a blue-collar family and when her father passed away while she was still in high school, upon graduating from Phillipsburg Parocial, she went to work to help support her mother and younger sister.
Kathie was a loving and devoted wife and would have been married for sixty-five years on April 23, 2025. She was also a caring, loving and generous mother and grandmother. During the years when she was raising her children, she still found time to volunteer at the Warren Hospital gift shop as a worker and buyer.
She was an avid reader and loved listening to classical music, both at home and at concerts. Kathie enjoyed attending Lafayette College basketball games and insisted on having season tickets. In her earlier years, she was a downhill snow skier and tennis player. Presently, she had remained active, usually walking two miles per day and playing golf with her husband. Her pride and joy were her beautiful flower gardens at her home, to which she devoted countless hours. She was a parishioner of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church where she previously had served on church decorations committee.
She is survived by her husband, John, daughter, Karen Kingfield and four adult grandchildren, Daniel, Tyler, Matthew Jr and Julianna. A son, Matthew Kingfield, predeceased her several years earlier.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11am. Viewing hours will be on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Finegan Funeral Home on Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, from 6 until 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
