Denice “De” Teabo

Denice “De” Teabo, 68, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, lost her battle with cancer on January 29, 2025, in Franklin Township, New Jersey.

Born June 23, 1956, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Weaver, Sr. and Sarah “Sis” Gudzinas-Weaver.  She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert E. Weaver, Jr., who passed in 2004.

De was an avid sports enthusiast who especially thrived in softball.  She was extremely proud to be a part of the 1973 Phillipsburg High School Softball Championship Team scheduled to be honored in the Phillipsburg Athletics’ Association Hall of Fame this coming April.

After high school, for many years, De continued to volunteer her time teaching and coaching the sport to children, including her daughter, her nieces and her many cousins.  She was a lifetime member of the Firthtown Falcons, volunteering many years of service to the organization and her community.

De further continued to play softball within the many local women’s softball leagues, until she eventually retired from playing and graduated to running tournaments and coaching teams up through 2022.  She has always said that these were her most cherished years where she made the best friendships.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cortney Teabo and Michael Taynor, as well as her only grandchild, Liam Taynor, whom she loved dearly.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sally D. Weaver, nieces, Brooks Van Duyne and Stephanie Weaver, nephew, Brian Weaver, their children, her many cousins and her many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 1, 2025 at the Italian American Social Club located on Pursel and Mill Streets, Phillipsburg.

Donations will be taken at Helen’s Floral Shoppe for the preparation of centerpieces to be used at the Celebration of Life.
