Betty Jane Hartman Rissmiller McCatharn

Betty Jane Hartman Rissmiller McCatharn, 90, of Phillipsburg, passed away on December 13, 2024, at St. Luke’s, Warren Campus.

Born January 25, 1934, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Smith Hartman and Willard B. Hartman.

She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1951, and worked at Ingersoll Rand Company for 5 years, leaving to raise her family. Betty went on to work for the State of New Jersey in 1982, retiring after 29 ½ years for the Edna Mann Correctional facility on July 1, 2011, as a senior correctional officer. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg.

Survivors are daughters; Susan Beth Rissmiller and Marti Jane Eick, and sons; Charles Willard Rissmiller, Tod Harley Rissmiller, and Eric Scott Rissmiller, as well as; 2 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 5 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 9 – 11 am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 500 Hillcrest Blvd., in Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Funeral Service beginning at the church at 11:00 am. The interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, also in Phillipsburg. The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha are coordinating arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
