Forrest W. Hahn Jr.
Forrest W. Hahn Jr., 88, died peacefully on November 15, 2024, with his wife of 70 years, Marie Garis Hahn, by his side.
Born in Easton, PA, on May 6, 1936, to Forest Hahn Sr. and Theresa Kiraly Hahn, he lived in Phillipsburg, NJ, for most of his life.
Forrest graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1953, where he was a member of the band, playing the trombone. He was employed in sales most of his life in insurance and electrical supplies, retiring from Fromm Electric in Phillipsburg, and was the recipient of multiple achievements in sales. Forrest was an avid bowler and golfer, highlighted by a hole-in-one at Harkers Hollow in 1992. He enjoyed fine cars and was a sharp dresser. He volunteered at Warren Hospital and delivered Meals-on-Wheels. A lifelong Free Mason of the Phillipsburg lodge, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and then St. John’s Lutheran Churches in Phillipsburg. He was a member of the “Yellow Jackets” drum and bugle corps of Bangor, PA, playing the trombone. He and his wife spent many winters in Ocala, Florida, where they owned a vacation home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons; Jeffrey and wife Helen, Mark and wife Darcy, and Danny. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Ryanne, Renee, Tyler, Kayla, Rebecca, Cory, and Jamie, as well as 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Polgardy. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother, Bruce Hahn, and sister, Barbara Patrick.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10 – 11 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Masonic and Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 am. The interment will be at the Fairmount Cemetery, also in Phillipsburg.
