Arthur R. McNew Sr.

Arthur R. McNew Sr., 93, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on November 11, 2024 in Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born September 7, 1931, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Ray and Laura Belle Bittinger McNew. He was also predeceased by his wife, the late Rose Febbo McNew, who passed in 1999.

Art served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was employed at Warren Hospital and was their Human Resources Director. He was an avid Eagles, Red Sox, and Phillies fan. An enthusiastic bowler, he enjoyed fishing, the casino, horse racing, volunteered at the Shad Festival, and was a life time member of the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, as well as a member of Citizens Hose, and the Lions Club. Art was also a board member with IRCO. He also served as a trainer with the Steele Hill Youth Organization and was inducted into their Hall of Fame.

Survivors are, his children; Steven and wife Daphne, Art Jr. and wife Kathy, Kelly Lefler and husband Bill, as well as grandchildren; Jason, Jennifer, Alysha, Cassidy, and Blake, and great grandchildren; Colin, Alexa, Declan, Brooke, and Emily. He is also survived by companion, Marie Balson, brothers and sisters; Larry, Linda, Bill, James, Darlene, and Ruth, in addition to many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by brothers Don, Ken, and sister Dolores.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home with the interment at the Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township.
