Edward Chando, Sr.
Edward Chando, Sr, 99, of Phillipsburg passed away Sunday, October 13th 2024 at Northampton Post Acute, Easton, PA.
Born September 21, 1925 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Anna Antolick Chando.
Edward worked as a coremaker in the Iron Foundry at Ingersoll-Rand Co. for 37 years. He served in the Army during WWII with the 271st infantry, 69th Division fighting in the battle of Germany in 1944 – 45. He also served 3 years in the 26th Air division in the newly formed Air Force.
He was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Phillipsburg serving as it’s cantor for many years.
Surviving are his sons, Edward Chando, Jr and wife Donna of Coopersburg, PA; Michael S. Chando and wife Sharon of Phillipsburg, NJ and his daughter, Karen L. Clark and her husband Tim of Easton, PA; a brother Emil of Florida: six grandchildren, Scott, Katelyn, Edward Matthew, Morgan, Alexandra and Tyler; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Connor, Mason, Grady, Colin, Evelyn, Logan and soon to be an eighth Emilia Rose in November; many nieces and nephews survive. Edward was predeceased by his wife Jacquelyn, sisters Mary Muller, Penny Berezny Vargo; and brothers, Joseph Jr., John, Steven, Peter, William, Andy and George.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 18, 2024 with the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Peter and St. Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 1140 Johnston Drive, Bethlehem, PA. Interment will be in St. Peter and St. Paul Cemetery in Alpha, NJ. The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg & Alpha are coordinating arrangements. Visit www.fineganfh.com.
