Nancy J. Lazzara

Nancy Lazzara

Nancy J. Lazzara, 95, of Easton, PA, passed away on October 2, 2024. Born in Easton on January 29, 1929, Nancy was the daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine Calafiura Lazzara.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her aunt and uncle, Antonio and Nunziata Lazzara, who took her into their home and became loving parents after the passing of her beloved father. Nancy considered her cousin, Millie V. Lazzara, daughter of her aunt and uncle, her “little sister” and they lived together for 60 years.

Nancy was also predeceased by her brothers, Anthony L. Lazzara of Easton, PA, Frank R. Lazzara of Salem, AL, Samuel S. Lazzara of Easton, PA, nephew Fire Chief Samuel A. Lazzara of Harley, LA, nieces Jonnie M. D’Andrea of Marietta, GA, Toni Lee Lazzara of Beulah, AL, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Maxine, and Annabelle.

Nancy was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Easton, Our Lady of Mercy Women’s Guild, and Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America.

No stranger to hard work, Nancy worked at Northampton Pants in Easton for 2 years, Strongware Pants Company, Inc. in Easton for 32 Years, and Modern Clothing in Allentown for 7 years. Nancy worked in Ladies Manufacturing Factories in the Lehigh Valley and Phillipsburg, NJ.

After the closing of Men’s Clothing Factories, Nancy started a new career, and in 1987 became a certified nurse’s aide, retiring in 1996 from the Easton Home. This career became her calling. She cared for many of her family members, friends, and neighbors. Sometimes that care came in the form of visits, cards, coupons, or for the truly lucky ones-homemade soup. She was an amazing cook. When entering her home, the aroma of sauce on the stove was commonplace. She was kind and loving and would call her loved ones daily to check in. She never missed an occasion to send a card to let someone know she cared. She truly was a special person to so many who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Nancy loved people and animals. She always put out food for the deer and squirrels. At her apartment, she had the deer literally eating out of her hand. She was predeceased by her beloved cat Mandie, and is survived by Zoe, her cat who stayed by her side until the end.

Nancy is survived by nephew Frank R. Lazzara (Myongyo) of Appling, GA, nieces Samuella Lazzara Donnelly (Jay) of Bethlehem, PA, Catherine Ann Elder of Acworth, GA, Katherine Sue Lazzara (Kim Albert) of Easton, PA, Marina Ann Lazzara (Jason Lee) of San Francisco, CA, godson Michael Forniciare of Stockertown, PA, and goddaughter Virginia Spade of Allentown, PA. She also leaves behind three generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Nancy is survived by many cousins, with whom she had a special relationship and who supported and loved her for many years.

Nancy is also survived by a very special young woman, her “Sunshine”, Ava Louise Noel of Easton, PA, who was like a granddaughter to Nancy. She was very proud of Ava and their relationship, and treasured their time spent together.
