Gabriel N. Simonetta

Gabriel N. Simonetta, 95, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away September 17, 2024 at St. Luke’s – Anderson Campus, in Bethlehem Township, PA with his sister at his side.

Born June 6, 1929, in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Francesco and Maryanna Chilelli Simonetta. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Lucy Racciato Simonetta.

He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, an Army veteran, who served in the Korean War and was a Bronze Star recipient.  He had a distinguished 30-year career in the New Jersey State Police and was initially stationed in Troop C (Central Jersey).  He spent the majority of his career in Troop B (Northern Jersey) with a short stint in Troop D (NJ Turnpike) as the Deputy Troop Commander.

He is survived by his sister, Dolly Loiacono, as well as nieces and nephews; Frank Simonetta, Michele Thatcher, Antoinette Martin, Stephanie Hallman, Pamela Pensabene, Don Strebig, David Hajdu, Chuck Hajdu, and Peter Racciato. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Cosmi Simonetta, and sisters, Teresa Gigliotti, Rose Solt, and Angie Hajdu.

Funeral services and entombment will be private and are being coordinated by the Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg and Alpha.
