Stanley L. Styer

Stanley L. Styer, 85, of Lopatcong Twp., NJ, originally from N. Plainfield, NJ, moving to Hunterdon Co. in the early 70’s and then to White Twp., Warren County in 2005, passed away on September 15, 2024 at Complete Care of Brakeley.

Stan was born on October 14, 1938 in Warren, NJ, a son of the late Robert and Bessie Mitchell Styer.

He was a United States Veteran serving in the U.S. Marines. He worked for Elizabethtown Water Company as a backhoe operator and as a meter reader and also retired from the water company in Plainfield, NJ after many years.  Later in life he was an interior designer, mostly a wall paper specialist. Stan attended First Baptist Church of Belvidere. He was a 1956 graduate of North Plainfield High School. He loved to be outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Stan was a master gardener who had a green thumb, people came from far and wide to his produce stand. He was well known for his flower gardens. He was also an avid 5K runner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Ann Fiedler Styer who passed away in 2023, along with his sons, Robert in 1977 and Christopher in 1989, along with his sister, Betty Lou Dugas and his grandson, Brennan Smith in 2014.

He is survived by his children; Angela Smith and her husband Harry E., Jr., of Harmony wp., NJ, Bonnie Spada and her husband Lou of Cromwell, Ct., and Susan Huff and her husband Ken of Alpha, NJ. He is also survived by his siblings, Carol Matthews of Oakhurst, NJ, and Roberta Jones of Trenton, NJ. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 924 2nd Ave., Alpha, NJ, with a funeral service following at 11 A.M, at the funeral home. The interment will take place in Belvidere Cemetery, in Belvidere, NJ.
