Sharon Lee Piggott
Sharon Lee Piggott, 85, of Bethlehem, PA (formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ), died peacefully on August 22, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown, PA. She is survived by her sons, Kevin B. (Teresa M.) of Easton, PA, and Mark O. (Georgiene S.) of Alexandria, VA. Additionally, she is survived by her late daughter’s husband, James Reigle. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William R. Piggott, her daughter, Trina L. Reigle, and her brothers, Keith E. Davis and Michael W. Davis.
Sharon was born in Dunbar, WV, to William E. Davis and Iola Ormal Davis (Casto). She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958 as an Aviation Storekeeper. Her first duty station assignment was at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA, where she met and married the love of her life. During his 22-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps and several moves across the country, Sharon’s unwavering love and dedication to her family shone through as she raised her three children and earned an Associate’s Degree from Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ, until he retired in 1975. They made their last move to Phillipsburg, NJ, where they lived for nearly 50 years. During her career as a Federal Government Employee, Sharon worked for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, and the Federal Aviation Administration until her retirement in 1995. She also worked for the ARC of Hunterdon County, NJ, and as a substitute teacher for the Phillipsburg School System.
Sharon’s life was guided by her faith. She enjoyed bowling and knitting blankets for family and friends, but most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior and served him faithfully for many years. This included singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Bethlehem, PA, the Cherry Point Baptist Church of Havelock, NC, the First Baptist Church of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church of Easton, PA.
Sharon is also survived by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They include grandchildren Autumn A. (Manuel) Cuevas of Newport News, VA, Melissa S. (Brandon) Werner of Bangor, PA, Meghan L. (Jason) Mann of Phillipsburg, NJ, Erin E. (Ryan) Thurber of Cranberry Township, PA, Ciera R. (Jordan) Feather of Manassas, VA, Joseph T. Piggott of Reading, PA, Tyler W. Reigle of Phillipsburg, NJ. Zachary H. (Mia) Piggott of Newport News, VA, Cory J. Reigle of Phillipsburg, NJ, great-grandchildren Emmaryn F. Matthey of Cranberry Township, PA, and Aria M. Werner of Bangor, PA.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 6 -8 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. An additional calling hour (closed casket) will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 10 – 11 am at the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, 715 Chestnut Lane, Palmer Township, PA, with the funeral service beginning at 11 am at the church. The interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Phillipsburg, NJ.
