Sharon Lee Rogora
Sharon Lee Rogora, of Lower Saucon Township, PA, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, was led by the angels into Paradise on July 30, 2024. Born on May 19, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Popinko.
Sharon’s youth was spent on a dairy farm in Oxford, NJ. After attending Oxford Central School and graduating from Washington High School, Washington, NJ she earned her BA degree in History and Education at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ. Her entire 34-year teaching career was spent teaching American History at Warren Hills Regional Senior High School, Washington, NJ where thousands of students passed through her classroom.
In addition to being a teacher Sharon was also a professional organist. She spent over 25 years as an organist at St Mary Roman Catholic Church, Alpha, NJ. She always considered it an honor and a privilege to be part of the music ministry at St. Mary’s.
Sharon had many interests, some of which included reading and staying abreast of current issues and politics. She never shied away from a good discussion of either. She and her husband loved to try new restaurants and to travel. Hawaii and Italy ranked as their favorites.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bruce Andrew Rogora. Together they spent 43 wonderful years. It was a journey they traveled together believing in each other and the power of love. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sister Kathy D’Agostio and husband Frank of Harpswell, Maine, sister Diane Leh and husband Robert of Oxford, NJ and brother James Popinko and wife Sylvia of Oxford. She is also survived by her father-in-law Oreste Rogora of Phillipsburg, NJ and step-daughter Barbara Hower and step-granddaughter Megan Hower both of Easton, PA and Bruce’s siblings, Sharon Zito, Deborah Reda, William Rogora, Tamra Rounsaville and Shelly Zeigman, In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was also pre-deceased by her mother-in-law Ann Heller.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so by coming to Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Ave. Alpha, NJ, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church at 830 Fifth Ave., Alpha, NJ. Entombment will be in St Mary’s Mausoleum, next to the church in Alpha, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to St Mary Church, Alpha, NJ.
