Raymond T. “Buddy” Paradine
Raymond T. “Buddy” Paradine, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Raymond was born on October 16, 1942, to the late Edward and Florence (O’ Brien) Paradine in Bayonne, N.J. From an early age, his infectious laughter and quirky sense of humor endeared him to everyone around him. He had a knack for grandpa jokes that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. His contagious laugh and quick wit could turn any moment into a memorable occasion. He had a way of making everyone around him feel valued and appreciated, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In 1961, Buddy married the love of his life, Kay, and together they celebrated over 62 years of marriage filled with unwavering devotion and deep affection. Their bond was a shining example of enduring love and partnership.
Buddy worked at ICI Americas for over 35 years. He spent many years as a volunteer coach of the Bayonne Plumbing baseball team at Little League. He also enjoyed bowling with his friends and was a member of the Knights of Columbus bowling league.
A dedicated family man, Buddy took immense joy in supporting his grandchildren at their school events and sports games. Whether cheering from the sidelines at softball, basketball, or baseball games, his presence was a source of encouragement and pride for his grandchildren.
Buddy had a passion for classic cars and could often be found reminiscing about the good old days. He had an affinity for 50’s music, and his playlists were always filled with tunes that brought a nostalgic smile to his face.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife Catherine “Kay” (Strugala) Paradine, his children Michael, Thomas, Michelle Hickey, son-in law, Robert Hickey and daughter-in-law, Karen (Lewandowski) Paradine. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Heather, Emma, Samantha, R.J., Jackie, Landon, Casey, Mikey, Erik, Daniel, Tommy, and Ashley, and by his sister, Dorothy Fallon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Edward Paradine, along with his siblings, Edward “Sonny” Paradine, Billy Paradine, and Florence “Honey” Natoli.
Buddy’s departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all. May his laughter echo in our memories and his love live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Dear Buddy. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 830 5th Ave., Alpha, NJ. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Alpha, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Finegan Funeral Homes of Phillipsburg and Alpha, NJ, have been entrusted with his arrangements.
