William Hann

William Ernest Hann, Jr. (Bill), 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, partner and friend, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Bill was born April 29,1938 in Phillipsburg, NJ and resided there his entire life.  He was the son of the late William E. Hann Sr. and Leona Dietrich Hann.

Bill was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1956 before attending Rutgers University. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Kitty) Collura, from May of 1959 until her passing in January of 2013. Bill worked as a draftsman and insurance agent, retiring in 2013. He gave generously to and volunteered extensively with the Phillipsburg Jaycees, Phillipsburg Rotary, Boy Scouts, United Way, Meals on Wheels, Shade Tree Commission, and numerous Warren County committees.  Bill served in many officer positions in community organizations and received several awards for his community service.  He was a self-taught handyman who enjoyed doing home improvement projects. He could often be found “puttering around” his home and yard, and was always willing to help his family and friends with projects. Bill had a great group of friends who he enjoyed golfing, traveling and playing cards with. In recent years, he enjoyed jazz and traveling in the US and abroad with his loving and devoted partner, Gloria Gehl. He was known to break into song and had a lovely singing voice.

Bill is survived by his sons, Scott and his wife Suzanne, Michael and his wife Faith, his son-in-law, Richard Patricia, his grandchildren, Ashley Hann, Taryn Nuñez and her husband Ray, Paige Hann, Ryan Hann, Collin Patricia, and Skylar Gregory and her husband Richard, his great-grandsons, Ramon and Adrian Nuñez, his partner, Gloria Gehl, and his siblings, Patricia Benson, Robert Hann, and Marguerite Scannell and her husband Bill. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Kitty) Hann, daughter, Kathleen Patricia, and grandson, Bailey Patricia.

Services are under the care of Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 10 from 5-8 PM.

Funeral Service Friday, April 11 at 11 AM at the funeral home with interment following at St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp, NJ.
