Walter Heinz Sarwatka

Born on March 26, 1937, in Spirokeln, East Prussia, he was the son of the late Otto and Helen Fischer Sarwatka. He was raised in Elmshorn, Germany.

Walter immigrated to the United States in 1960 and became a U.S. citizen in 1965.

He worked as an electrician at Egan Machinery Company in Somerville, NJ, various Johnson & Johnson companies, Mobil Chemical in Washington, NJ, and Ron-Pak.
In his spare time,

Walter loved to travel and to tinker in his garage and around the house. In his younger, adventurous years, he rode motorcycles, enjoyed fast cars, and took flying lessons.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lee Lance Sarwatka; his children, Dr. Cornelia Lee of Palmyra, VA, Frank Sarwatka and his wife Suzanne of Tampa, FL, and Holly Slutter and her husband Scott of Nazareth, PA.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Owen Sarwatka, Julia Lee, Nadia Quach, and Jayden Quach; and several nieces and nephews in Germany: Ingo Fröemchen, Axel Sarwatka, Andrea Bruder, Oliver Heggblum, and Jeanette Gemsa.
He is also survived by his beloved dog, Angel.
Along with his parents, Walter was predeceased by his siblings, Gerda Fröemchen, Gerhard Sarwatka, and Waltraut Heggblum.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 2nd Ave., Alpha, NJ, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at St. Mary Church, 830 5th Ave, Alpha, NJ, beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will be held at St. Mary Mausoleum.
