Virginia DeWire

Virginia DeWire, 91, of Bloomsbury, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at her home.

Virginia was born in Washington, NJ, on February 28, 1930, and lived her entire life in Bloomsbury. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Sarah (Hall) Bellis.

She was a 1947 graduate of Phillipsburg High School and a 1951 graduate of Trenton State College, where she graduated with a BS in Education. Upon graduation, she married the love of her life, Robert DeWire. They were married for 68 years until his passing in August, 2019.

Virginia started as an elementary school teacher in the Phillipsburg School District; however, the majority of her teaching career was spent at Bloomsbury Elementary School where she retired in 1991.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Robert, and his wife, Jackie, of Milford, NJ, Richard and his wife, Susan, of Highlands Ranch, CO, and daughter, Jeanne, and her husband, Ernie Minardi, of Phillipsburg, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to six and a great grandmother to three. Her greatest joy was her family and she was so proud of each and every member.

Virginia was a member of The Bloomsbury Methodist Church, New Jersey Education Association and The Phillipsburg Pistol Club where she gained Sharpshooter qualification.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Ave., Alpha, NJ from 10 to 11 AM with the service to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be held in Bloomsbury Cemetery in Bloomsbury, NJ.
