Valentina G. Carnali

Valentina G. Carnali, beloved sister to Joyce Doland and aunt to ten nieces and nephews, died peacefully on Sunday morning, March 14 at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna, New Jersey.

Valentina was born on July 30, 1925, in New Village, New Jersey to Giuseppe and Rosa Ciarloni Carnali.  She attended elementary school in New Village, and worked at various businesses in the Washington, New Jersey area.   She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many.   Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of animals.

Valentina was predeceased by her two brothers – Atilio and Claudio Carnali, and two sisters – Lena Ricci and Anna Berg.   She is survived by her sister, Joyce Doland, along with her loving nieces and nephews – Joseph Carnali, Cheryl Smolko, Rosemary Carnali, Karen Groves, Susan Johnson, Lori Price, Claudine Nicolich, William Berg, James Ricci, and Victoria Hruby.  She also leaves behind 19 great nieces and nephews, and seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday beginning at the funeral home at 10:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church, 430 So. Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. The interment will be at St. Philip & James Cemetery in Greenwich Township, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Franklin Township Fire Department or to Saint Philip and Saint James Catholic Church.
