He graduated from Bridgewater Raritan West High School in Bridgewater, NJ, in 1973 and received his Turf Grass Management Degree from Penn State University in 1980. He was recognized in the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA). He began his career as Assistant Superintendent at Toftrees Country Club and Lodge in State College, PA. He became the head Superintendent at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, NJ, in 1981, and remained there until his death. He was a long time parishioner of St Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Township, PA. Tim was an avid golfer and a successful youth basketball coach, but spending time with family and most especially his grandsons was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his children, Ryan and daughter-in-law Jessica of Woodstock, GA, a daughter Kristen of Mableton, GA, and a son Tim of Oxford, MS. He also is survived by a brother Mark and sister-in-law Karen of Hillsborough, NJ, a brother Sean and sister-in-law Sherrie of Johns Island, SC, and a sister Rory Hepner and brother-in-law Patrick of Mableton, GA. The love of his life was his two grandsons Nolan and Lucas McAvoy of Woodstock, GA. He also is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 4 grand nieces.
Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Township, PA, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. (www.fineganfh.com) A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30am at St Jane’s Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue in Palmer Township, PA. The interment will be private.
