Born in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Austin and Margaret McAtee Wismer.
He left high school so that he could proudly serve in the US Navy. He served during the Bay of Pigs Conflict on the USS Independence. Tom retired after many years as a supervisor and shift leader from BASF- Wyandotte in Washington, NJ. Also, he worked as a real estate agent for many years with Weichert, and Budd Agency. Many years ago he was employed with Baines Radio and TV, formerly in Phillipsburg. Tom was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon and Elder, and lifetime member of many local clubs. He and his wife did extensive travelling, but spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie L. Miller Wismer. His children are Kelly M. Fox, Frank Wismer and his wife Kathy, Sandra Youpa and her husband Michael, AnnMarie Sabo and her husband Jack, Daniel Wismer and his wife Dawn. His step-children are Michelle Tunnell of Alaska and Michael Tunnell of Florida. His sister is Jean Sendecki of Chicago. He was predeceased by his brother Austin Wismer and son-in-law Ronald Fox. Eleven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren , and one on the way, are surviving, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours will be held on Saturday August 11, 2018 at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ, from 1 to 3 pm. Services will be held at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors at WoundedWarriorproject.org.
