Thomas was born on August 8th, 1948 in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. He was the eldest son of the late Daniel & Virginia (Segreaves) Wyant Sr.
Tom was the husband of Maryann (Moleski) Wyant, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 9th, 2018. He was employed after returning from Vietnam by the Riegel Paper Mill. He worked many years there, during which time he became a maintenance electrician. He then was employed by Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital and retired from the Hunterdon Developmental Center. Throughout these years he was the supervisor of the Bloomsbury Water Department.
In his spare time, after long hours at work, he coached for the Bloomsbury Girls Softball League and the Phillipsburg Penn Jersey Softball League. He also played his favorite position at third base for many men’s softball teams in the area. Tom “Pappy Tom” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and recently a great-grandfather.
Tom was a caring person, ready to help anyone at any time. He enjoyed and loved his friendships and was loved by all who knew him. The time he spent teaching his hobbies and interest in the outdoors was priceless, as he witnessed the traditions being passed to the next generation. For many years, he enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his Corvette, hunting, and fishing and was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. His love of these things were felt and displayed throughout the beautiful home he was so proud of. He was a member of the Bloomsbury Rescue Squad, Bloomsbury Presbyterian Church, NRA and the Bloomsbury Rod & Gun Club, where he served as past president and treasurer.
In addition to his loving wife MaryAnn, he is survived by his daughters; Rachel Mosher and her husband Butch of Lopatcong NJ, Rebecca Schneck and her husband Glenn of Alpha, NJ, his brothers; Daniel Wyant Jr. and James Wyant (Christi), both of Bloomsbury, NJ, his sister-in-law, Nancy Buchcanan of Burlington, VT, his grandsons; Joey Courter (Bri) of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Tommy Courter of Lopatcong, his grandchildren; Desiree (Craig) Peppriell of Pocono Mt, PA, Jessica(Jaren) Sucigan of Phillipsburg, and Jordan and Kyle Mosher of Phillipsburg, his great granddaughter, Lillian Marie Peppriell, many nephews and nieces and his devoted dog, Harley “Hawkins” Davidson.
A viewing will be held at the Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 17 Greenwich Road (off Rt. 173) Stewartsville, NJ on Monday, June 11th,from 5pm-8pm, with an additional calling hour on Tuesday, June 12th, from 10am-11am, the Funeral Service will then be held directly after at 11am. The interment is to immediately follow at the Bloomsbury Cemetery.
