Sandra Marie Ackerman

Born February 21, 1952, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Sandy was the oldest of six children Daughter of Emma (Guidi) Jones and the late Paul R. Jones.  Sandy is survived by her daughter, Susan Patterson and her husband Greg, 3 cherished grandchildren - Emily, Gregory and Kelly of Mountainside, NJ.

 Sandy leaves behind her beloved Mother Emma Jones from her original hometown of New Village, NJ; sisters Beverly Rossetti and husband Mark of Phillipsburg, NJ; Carol Lenz and husband Leonard of Williams Township, PA. Brothers Doug Jones of New Village, Don Jones and wife Christine of Tamaqua, PA and David Jones and wife Tara of Green Township, NJ. Sandy left behind 8 nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Chris, Kyle, Tiffany, Greg, Andrew, Anthony, and Madison. Sandy was a beautiful daughter and friend to her mother, Emma Jones, a loving sister to all her 5 siblings, an amazing aunt, unforgettable mother and devoted “Grammy” to her 3 grandchildren and grand dog, Oscar.

 Sandy began her professional career as a cashier at Warren Hospital. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Finance she advanced to the position of Controller in the Finance Department, retiring in 2012 after 37 years of dedicated service.

 When Sandra entered heaven on February 10, she was reunited with her beloved son, Kevin Daniel Shields, and late husband Carl C. Ackerman. Sandy was a kind heart and shared joy with everyone she knew and will be truly missed and never forgotten.

 Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019, from 6-8pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Friday, beginning at the funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. The interment will be private.
