Ruth C. Ryan

Ruth C. Ryan, 69, of Bethlehem, Pa., passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021 in her home.

Born on October 8, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Ruth Hurley Ryan.

Ruth worked in the insurance industry for many years as an underwriter. She worked for Liberty Mutual, Fireman’s Fund and AIG.

Ruthie was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was kind, gentle, intelligent, and funny. She loved and adored her family and friends (and her dog Bridie). Her intense curiosity and love for humanity showed in how she read thousands of books throughout her life, her passion for nature and gardening, and her personal investment in those she cared most about. She was always concerned about those she loved and knew, but also for the world at large. Ruthie was incredibly strong, but was also graceful and considerate.

She loved stories about people, but she was equally a wonderful story-teller. Despite what dire circumstances life could bring, she was able to find the beauty in life and she shared that with those around her. Above all, Ruthie loved people and loved her family. She cared deeply about the lives of those she loved. Yet, she also cared for those she didn't know, and welcomed them with an open heart. Ruthie has made a lasting impact on those lives she touched, and hopefully everyone can see the world with as much compassion and beauty as she did.

She is survived by her loving children, Ryan Buechle and his significant other, Tara Bresnihan of Bethlehem, Pa., and Brigid Buechle and her partner, Brandon Kleckner of Fountain Hill, Pa. Ruthie is also survived by her loving siblings, Meg Weiss of Olympia, Washington, and Tony Ryan of Chantilly, VA.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 2P.M. to 3P.M. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Pa., followed by a Memorial Service at 3PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ruthie may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org or to the National Eating Disorders at www.ned.org
