Ronald Paul Peles, 65, of Stewartsville, NJ passed away on January 4, 2023, at home with his loving wife of 39 years Gloria by his side, and dear friend Debbie Iorio.
Ron was born in Spangler, PA, August 29, 1957, the son of Paul Robert Peles and the former Regina Mae Weakland. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, the former Gloria Jean Wentworth of Milford, NJ, his mother, his sister, Nancy Jean Hufnagel and her husband Donald Hufnagel, a nephew, Steven Lee Hufnagel, and a brother, Richard Weakland. Niece Patricia Hufnagel Vanderhoof and his father preceded him in death.
He grew up in Manalapan Township, and graduated from Manalapan High School in Englishtown, NJ in 1975, played the alto saxophone and bassoon, and was a member of the band, National Honors Society and Quill and Scroll. His family moved to Clinton Township in 1978. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers College in 1979 and played in the marching band, advanced wind ensemble, and basso continuo. He earned a J.D. from Vermont Law School and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1982. He was staff attorney with the New Jersey State Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly from 1982 – 1984. He entered private practice in 1984 and founded his solo practice in 1987 in Clinton, moving to Stewartsville in 1995. He was a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He was Municipal Prosecutor for Greenwich, Pohatcong, Phillipsburg and Belvidere, and Township Attorney for Greenwich. His private practice areas were real estate, personal injury, municipal court, business law, civil litigation and estate matters.
He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, Corvair Society of America, Avanti Owners Association International, Studebaker Driver’s Club and the Garden State Crew-zers, a PT Cruiser owner’s club.
He was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended St. Mary R.C. Church in Alpha, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, and Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue in Alpha, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church on 5th Avenue in Alpha. The interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
