Robert T. “Bob” Jones

Robert T. “Bob” Jones, 74, of Bloomsbury, NJ, passed away on December 20, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, with his loving wife and his family at his side.

Born in Easton, PA, on February 17, 1947, he was the oldest of five children of the late Joseph Jones and Pauline Keller Jones.

He and his wife, Jane Janosa Jones, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on February 17, 2021.

Bob graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1965, and joined the US Navy, where he spent his four years on the USS Norfolk and USS Storms, destroyer vessels. In the Navy, Bob acquired a love of the sea and had fond memories of his Navy years. He was a proud Veteran.

Upon being honorably discharged, Bob graduated from Northampton County Community College with a degree in Industrial Management and was employed at Osceola Graphics, Ingersoll-Rand, Cameron Pump Division and Alpha Press.

Bob and his wife, Jane, were world travelers, having visited every continent, except Antarctica. Bob’s love of the sea continued and he and his wife enjoyed many adventures and shared wonderful memories of their 30 cruises.

Bob was a member of Liberty Hose, Mecsey Bishop American Legion and served on the Board of Directors of Easton PAL for a number of years.

He was also a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Bloomsbury, NJ and the Holy Name Society. He was Chairman of the Parish Picnic for many years and became known as “the grill master”. He valued the friendships he made with the members of the church community especially the men in the Holy Name Society.

Bob enjoyed sports, but loved football, especially the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife had the opportunity to visit the campus and attend a number of games over the years. When he returned from the Navy, he was an active member in a number of bowling leagues. He also enjoyed the game of golf and played on a league for many years.

Bob had a great sense of humor and a generous heart. He enjoyed solving problems and helping people. No job was too difficult. He took pride in a job well done. He will be missed by many, but mainly by his wife who always loved looking into his beautiful blue eyes.

In addition to his wife, Jane, Bob is survived by his sister, Maryann Woodring and her husband, David, of Moore Township; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Jones, of Washington, NJ, along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Jones, and his sisters, Eileen Reed and her husband, Barry and Ann Pokojni and her husband, James.

He also enjoyed the frequent visits of his furry friend, Daisy. They had a special bond and she always brightened his day.

Calling Hours will be held at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Avenue, Alpha, NJ, from 5 to 7 PM, on Sunday, December 26, 2021. There will be an additional Calling Hour the following day, Monday, December 27, 2021, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for 10:30 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, 80 Main Street, Bloomsbury, NJ. The interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alpha, NJ.
