Robert C. DeWire

Robert was born in Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY on January 17, 1929. He was the son of the late Rev. Arthur and Lillian (Gebhardt) DeWire.

Robert was married to the former Virginia Bellis for 68 years. He was a 1947 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

The majority of his working years was spent at Riegel Paper Products. He was later employed by Johnson & Johnson in Raritan, NJ where he retired in 1991. He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman and enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin in Vermont. He gave everything he had to his family and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons Robert and his wife Jackie of Milford, NJ, Richard and his wife Susan of Highlands Ranch, CO and daughter Jeanne and husband Ernie Minardi of Phillipsburg, NJ, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Norman, Arthur and Paul.

He was a member of the Bloomsbury United Methodist Church, Bloomsbury Rod & Gun Club and Phillipsburg Pistol Club where he was an Expert marksman.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Ave., Alpha, NJ from 10 to 11 AM with the service to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be held in Bloomsbury      Cemetery in Bloomsbury, NJ.
