Matilda “DeeDee” Fatta

Born June 7, 1934 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Matilda attended public schools and graduated from Phillipsburg High in 1951 with honors. Matilda lived in Phillipsburg her whole life until she spent the last 5 years living in elder care facilities in Easton, PA.  After graduating from high school, Matilda immediately started working at Ingersoll Rand and remained there until retirement.  She was a devoted lifetime member of St. Phillip and St. James Catholic community and was very active in several parish ministries.  One of her favorite organizations included the Catholic Daughters of America in which she served as local and state district president for several years.  She found great joy in serving the church and local community, caring for her loving parents, helping to raise her niece and nephew, dining out, and vacation traveling with her friends in the US and abroad.   

Matilda was preceded in death by her parents, Sebastian “Charlie” and Mary (Volpe), her sister Marie Marotta (Fatta), and niece GinaMarie Fox.  Surviving is her brother in law Thomas Marotta, nephew Thomas Marotta, Jr, great nieces Cayla Fox, Erin Fox, Clara Jane Lane, and great nephew Sebastian Marotta.  

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 10:00am at St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main Street in Phillipsburg, NJ. The entombment of ashes will follow immediately at the Holy Apostles Mausoleum in Greenwich Township, NJ. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Pillars Hospice service and St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church.
