Mary Grace Sharr

Mary Grace Penna Sharr, 91, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2020 at Brakeley Care Center in Lopatcong Twp., NJ. 

Born March 10, 1929 in Italy, she, at the age of 3, arrived in the United States with her parents, the late Emilio and Angelina Porcaro Penna. She was raised in Easton and graduated from Easton High School in 1946. For many years she was employed by Seampruf, in their business office.  In 1954 she married Pasquale “Pat” Sharr. They celebrated 62 years of marriage until his passing in 2016. She and her late husband owned and operated Sharr's Floral Shoppe in Phillipsburg until they retired.

 In her younger days she was an avid bowler. She enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casinos. In her later years she volunteered at Catholic Charities and also with her husband on Knights of Columbus projects. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, many items she donated to babies and adults in need.

 In addition to her late husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Pat and Dominick Penna. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Linda Laros Steckel and Lillian Sharr Brunetti and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 4, 2020 at 10 am at St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Greenwich Twp., NJ.  In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to Knights of Columbus #474, c/o SS Philip and James Church, 430 S.
