Maria A. Hoagland

Maria A. Hoagland, 78, of Phillipsburg, NJ, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2022 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on March 26, 1944 in Phillipsburg, NJ, a daughter of the late Peter and Helen Durazzi Cortezzo.

Maria retired from Alternative’s, Inc. where she was a manager for 25 years working with the mentally handicapped. She spent the rest of her life caring for her family and others in the community.

Maria enjoyed music, dancing and going to the casino. Maria was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and a New York Yankees fan. Maria enjoyed family gatherings and would prepare dinners and parties for family and friends at her home. Maria was a collector of many music boxes and antiques. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg Catholic High School Class of 1962. She attended St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg, NJ.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dave Hoagland who passed away on November 9, 2019, her step-son David Hoagland, Jr., and his wife Michelle Hoagland, along with her sister Elaine Cortezzo.

Maria is survived by her grandchildren, Anthony and Jillian Emig, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at The Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp., PA.
