Lucy Rita Napoli Haney

Lucy Rita Napoli Haney, 94, of Phillipsburg, NJ, went home to the Lord, while surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Born on March 3, 1929, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Lucy was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Fatta) Napoli. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Haney, who passed in 1998.

Lucy was a 1947 Graduate of Phillipsburg High School. She was a telephone operator for bell telephone, Cafeteria manager at Phillipsburg Catholic High School, aide for NORWESCAP, and a teacher’s aide for the Phillipsburg School district.  Lucy was a leader for the Catholic daughters of warren county and worked at SPSJ bingo.  She was involved in Sts. Phillip and James Church, over 50 club, the red hats and many more.

Lucy was known by many names, Ms. Lucy, Mrs. Haney, Nana, and the name she was most proud of was mom.

Lucy is survived by her children, John Haney and his wife, Lori, of Palmer Twp., PA, and Marianna Maffeo, of Mebane, NC, her grandchildren; Jamee and Abby Haney, Joshua and Lauren Maffeo and Ashleigh Burton and her husband, Cole, her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and her many close friends. Along with her husband and her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her sisters; Frances Todaro, Matilda Viscomi, Mary Napoli and Theresa Napoli and her brothers; Alfonso, Salvatore and Christian Napoli.

A Viewing is scheduled for Monday, November 20, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Avenue, Alpha, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Philip and St. James Church, 430 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ, at 10:00 AM the following day, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with the interment then to be held at the St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ.
